Discerning the Voice of God: A Continual State of Readiness, P. Shirer - Session 6, October 21, 2020

Hearing the Voice of God can change your life. Pay diligent attention to one thing. Just deal with one thing! The one thing is your relationship with Jesus Christ.!

Scripture reference-John 10:1-5, 27. (Jesus is speaking here.)

John 10:27-My sheep hear My voice, & I know them & they follow Me.

Four Reasons to Hear God’s Voice

1. The Relationship-Only one way to have a relationship with God. (John 14:6). When you believe, you become a part of the family of God—you are adopted into the family of God. Your default posture of this relationship with Him is to hear His voice. When Shirer was making The War Room movie, she only saw and did the part the director asked her to do. Not until the film was edited did she see the whole movie to understand how her part fit. (The director makes certain that the entire story is told in the best way possible.) Compare-God, the director and us, those chosen to be in the movie of life.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.

2. The Result-Expect God to Speak (so you can hear His Voice.)

The Lord has put the very same Holy Spirit in each of our hearts as He has in famous Bible teachers, preachers, & musicians.

Holy Spirit in one believer=same Holy Spirit in any believer.

The enemy will try to help you NOT LISTEN to God. Your default must be Deuteronomy 30:11-14—(God will always bring a believer back to where He wants; the hard way or the easy way.) Be sitting on the edge of your seat expecting to hear from God. Nothing happens by circumstance. Delays and detours are divine interruptions (Example: Speed bumps-if one does not slow down, there will be need for realignment or someone might be injured.)

Romans 8:31b

If God be for us, no one (who) can be against us.

3. The Reason-Comparison of Jesus as the Good Shepherd and Christians the sheep. Jesus says, “I know my sheep.” To know someone, we must do our part-we must spend time with them. (The enemy smiles when he keeps the sheep from knowing the Shepherd.) Listen and you can hear God! In silence, you can hear God! Be focused on what will let you hear God! Know that if it contradicts God’s Word, leave it alone. He illuminates the Scriptures.)

4. The Response-they follow Me! Hebrews 13:20 says He is your Good Shepherd. You have a Good Shepherd. Follow Him! There will be no shame, no guilt, etc., only trust and peace.

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord, so I may see You.

Open the ears of my heart, Lord, so I may feel You. Consider singing this prayer song daily or weekly.
